Listed below are answers to the most frequently asked questions about the D.C. Bar 2020 Conference. Can't find the answer to your question? Please contact dcbarconference@dcbar.org for assistance.
 

Q. Do I have to be a D.C. Bar member to attend the conference?
A.
No. The D.C. Bar welcomes non-members to join us in this multi-day conference.
 

Q. How do I register? What are the registration fees?
A.
Register now and save! If you register by March 1, conference registration fees are $549 for D.C. Bar members and $699 for non-members. After March 1, 2020, registration fees are $699 for members and $849 for non-members. If you register onsite (pending available space), registration fees are $799 for members and $999 for non-members. Discounted registration is available for D.C. Bar members working for government agencies or nonprofit organizations. Contact dcbarconference@dcbar.org for more information.

Q. Am I eligible for the member rate?
A. All current D.C. Bar members are eligible for the member rate. If you have a question about your D.C. Bar membership status, please email memberservices@dcbar.org or call 202-626-3475.
 

Q. What does the conference registration fee include?
A. The conference registration fee includes access to the Welcome Reception, Plenary Sessions, Breakout Sessions, Keynote Luncheons, Membership Reception, breakfast meals, and one of the Friday afternoon excursions.
 

Q. What meals are included in the conference registration?
A. Conference registration includes food and beverage service at the Welcome Reception on Wednesday, June 24, and breakfast and lunch service on Thursday, June 25, and Friday, June 26. Refreshments will also be served at the Thursday evening Membership Reception.
 

Q. Are scholarships available to help with travel or registration expenses?
A. The D.C. Bar is unable to assist with travel or registration expenses.
 

Q. Where can I find the conference schedule?
A. Visit the Schedule At A Glance page for the most up-to-date information. Details will continue to be posted as news about conference programing is confirmed.
 

Q. What is the cancellation policy for the conference?
A. Cancellations and refund requests for the 2020 Conference and for the separate Celebration of Leadership Dinner must be received in writing by June 17, 2020. Refunds will not be issued for cancellations made after this date.

Refunds will be issued within 45 days after the conference. A $100 processing fee will be deducted for the conference and a $25 processing fee will be deducted for the Celebration of Leadership Dinner. Refunds will not be issued for contributions to the Pro Bono Center for the Presidents Reception.

Substitutions from the same company will be accepted in writing without penalty. Send cancellation and substitution requests to dcbarconference@dcbar.org.

A conference cancellation does not apply to any hotel reservation(s) that you may have. Please contact the Omni Shoreham Hotel directly to cancel your hotel reservations.


Q. When and where will the conference take place?
A. The D.C. Bar 2020 Conference will take place June 24 - June 26, 2020, at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, 2500 Calvert Street NW, Washington, D.C.

Q. How can I reserve a room at the conference hotel? Is there a special rate?
A. Please visit the Omni Shoreham Hotel, website or call 1-800-THE-OMNI and reference “D.C. Bar 2020 Conference.” A special room rate, starting at $269 per night, is available until June 1, 2020, or until the room block is full. Reservations made after this date will be based on availability and may not be at the negotiated room rate, so reserve early.

Q. Are shuttle or transportation services available?
A. There will be no complimentary shuttle or transportation services provided. For directions and parking information, visit the
Omni Shoreham Hotel website. Attendees may walk, take public transportation, or taxi/Uber/Lyft throughout the District of Columbia. Please visit the Discover the District page for more information.


Q. How can I register for the Celebration of Leadership Dinner or the Presidents Reception? Are they included in the conference registration?
A. You can register here to attend the Celebration of Leadership Dinner. The dinner is not included in the conference registration. A separate fee is required to attend.

The Presidents Reception is a fundraising event that honors incoming D.C. Bar President Geoffrey M. Klineberg and benefits the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center*. Admission to the Presidents Reception is not included in the conference registration. To attend, individuals and groups may purchase a ticket. For more information about the Presidents Reception, including law firm sponsorship opportunities or how to make a personal contribution to the Pro Bono Center at another level not listed on the registration fees page, contact Connie Sinclair at csinclair@dcbar.org or 202-780-2734. 

*The D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center is a tax-exempt charitable organization. The fair market value of this event is $60 per person. The amount of your contribution that is deductible for federal income tax purpose is reduced by the fair market value of the admission to the event.

Q. How can register I attend the Membership Reception? Is the event included in the conference or dinner registration?
A. Registration fees for both the conference and the dinner include access to the Membership Reception. Registrants who plan to attend the Membership Reception must indicate their desire to do so when registering for the conference and/or dinner.

All D.C. Bar members receive free admission to the Membership Reception regardless of whether they plan to attend the conference or dinner. If you are a member not attending the conference and/or the dinner and would like to attend the free Membership Reception, RSVP by Friday, June 19, 2020. 


Q. Are the excursions to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, Belmont-Paul Women’s Equality National Monument, and Library of Congress included in the conference registration?
A. Yes, but you must reserve your space when registering for the conference.
 

Q. Will transportation be provided to the offsite excursions?
A. Transportation will not be provided to the offsite excursions. For more information about each of the tours and how to get to them, visit the Excursions page.
 

Q. What are some attractions in Washington, D.C. and the surrounding area? Which restaurants are within
walking distance?

A. Visit our Discover the District page or the Destination DC website to learn more about the conference city and all it has to offer. While attending the conference, attendees may also visit the hotel concierge, located on the lobby level next to the front desk. 


Q. Does the conference include CLE credits?
A. The conference is accredited in all jurisdictions that require continuing legal education for attorneys.

Up to 7.0 credit hours, including 1.0 ethics credit hour, are available, depending on which sessions a registrant attends.
 

Q. Can I obtain credit in more than one jurisdiction?
A. Attendees can obtain credit in multiple jurisdictions. Refer to the CLE Chart that outlines instructions on how to receive credit in each of the 46 jurisdictions where the D.C. Bar 2020 Conference has been approved. Follow the instructions for each of the jurisdictions listed to obtain credit.
 

Q. Will I receive a certificate of attendance?
A. Paper certificates of attendance will be available at the conference.

Q. When will the exhibit hall be open?
A. The exhibit hall will be open on Thursday, June 25 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Friday, June 26 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
 

Q. How can I reserve exhibitor space?
A. The D.C. Bar 2020 Conference Exhibit Hall has limited availability and is filling up quickly! Exhibits space includes one standard 8 x 10 booth and optional table and chairs. Exhibitors are placed on a first-come, first-served basis. Exhibit space can be requested by completing the information form.
 

Q. How can my organization become a conference sponsor?
A. The D.C. Bar 2020 Conference offers your company and brand multiple ways to connect with our attendees through experiential sponsorships. We offer tiered sponsorship opportunities with booth space as well as a la carte opportunities that can enhance your exhibiting experience and build your brand among key D.C. legal professionals. Q. Can I advertise in the conference program?
A. Yes! There are two options. Ads are included in all tiered sponsorship packages. Ads can also be purchased directly as an add-on to your exhibit package or as great way to promote your brand if your company is unable to physically attend the conference. To purchase a tiered sponsorship package or to place an ad, please complete the information form.
 

Q. Are there other ways to reach D.C. Bar members without attending the conference?
A. While we would love for you to join us at the conference, you can promote your brand and/or product to members of the D.C. Bar through our multimedia channels, including the Washington Lawyer magazine, the digital newsletters Bar Bulletin and Legal Brief, and our website at www.dcbar.org. Q. What is the suggested attire for the conference?
A. Business professional attire is required for the Celebration of Leadership Dinner and Presidents Reception. All other conference activities and educational sessions are business casual.

Q. Is a Mother’s Room available at the conference hotel?
A. There is access to a private Mother’s Room. Please connect with the concierge on duty at the Concierge Desk. The concierge will provide you with a key after signing in. Once you have obtained the key, use the East Promenade elevators to go to the first floor. The Mother’s Room is the first room on the right.

Q. What kind of accessibility arrangements are available?
A. Upon request, the D.C. Bar will provide support services for people with disabilities. Please request accessibility services or accommodations at the time of registration and/or two weeks in advance of the conference dates to maximize our efforts.
